Registered Nurse – Preoperative

Role Overview: A registered nurse practicing independently in a clinical setting, providing routine and complex patient care while managing contingencies and long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for assigned patients.
  • Address patients’ psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs at their level of practice.
  • Administer medications and treatments following protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Assess educational needs and provide information to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to care team members to optimize patient management.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of related nursing experience preferred.
  • Current RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Additional certifications such as ACLS and PALS are required within specified timeframes.
  • Experience in perioperative or surgical settings is advantageous.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and patient education skills.

Additional Requirements: Completion of onboarding, annual competency validations, and adherence to certification deadlines are essential for ongoing practice.
