Respiratory Therapist

Role Overview: This position involves administering comprehensive respiratory care, both critical and general, to a designated patient group. The respiratory therapist evaluates, manages, and treats patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies, performing procedures such as mechanical ventilation, Bi-Pap, and respiratory monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform respiratory assessments, diagnostic tests, and treatments as ordered by physicians
  • Set up and operate respiratory equipment, including ventilators and aerosol delivery systems
  • Maintain accurate documentation of treatments and responses
  • Train staff, physicians, and students on respiratory therapy techniques
  • Conduct emergency procedures like CPR and manage airway support in critical situations
  • Perform arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and interpret results
  • Educate patients on sleep apnea devices, mask fitting, and pressure settings
  • Manage respiratory equipment inventory and ensure availability of supplies
  • Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited RRT program; Bachelor’s preferred
  • Current registration as a Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) and state licensure
  • Certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, and RCP within specified timeframes
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory equipment
  • Strong patient care skills, attention to safety, and ability to perform emergency procedures
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform patient transfers, standing, and walking
