Med Surg Nurse

Role Summary: The registered nurse provides, documents, and evaluates correctional health care nursing services tailored to individual patient needs, adhering to recognized standards, procedures, and policies. They oversee assigned nursing personnel, monitor patient conditions, and ensure accurate documentation of care, treatment, and responses, aligning with the organization’s mission and customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess nursing care based on provider orders and patient needs
  • Supervise nursing staff activities and ensure quality care
  • Observe, assess, and report patient condition changes
  • Maintain precise and timely documentation of patient care
  • Uphold standards of safety, hygiene, and medical asepsis

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current Ohio RN licensure
  • Basic Life Support certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • Strong knowledge of nursing theory, medical sciences, and nursing techniques
  • Proficiency with medical instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships and demonstrate physical coordination
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, correctional health care experience, or specialized certifications such as CCN or CCHP

Physical & Environmental Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, and exposure to communicable diseases, chemicals, and body fluids, with some standing, sitting, and visual/hearing acuity needed throughout shifts.
