Overview of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Role

The LPN provides bedside patient care using the nursing process under supervision or direction of a licensed healthcare professional. They are responsible for maintaining patient rights, confidentiality, and coordinating care with other departments. The role involves physical tasks such as lifting, standing, walking, and reaching, with at least one year of nursing experience preferred.

Qualifications include:

  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program
  • Current LPN licensure in the state of practice
  • Basic Life Support certification or completion within 30 days of hire
  • Physical ability to perform essential job functions

Key duties: delivering patient care in a medical telemetry setting, collaborating with healthcare teams, and ensuring patient safety and confidentiality. The position involves 12-hour night shifts, and the candidate should be adaptable to unit-specific certifications if required.
