Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical

Role Overview:
The Medical Surgical Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care within a multidisciplinary unit. They supervise nursing assistants, perform patient assessments, develop and modify care plans, and ensure accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and evaluate patient care procedures, including therapies and interventions such as IV access, injections, and device management.
  • Respond to emergencies, collaborate with the healthcare team, and promote patient safety and satisfaction through effective communication and bedside reporting.
  • Delegate tasks, transcribe orders, administer medications following the five rights, and maintain safety precautions like fall and pressure ulcer prevention.
  • Engage in continuous learning, professional development, and uphold departmental standards.

  • Qualifications & Skills:
    • Current RN license in Illinois and BLS certification.
    • College diploma in nursing with relevant experience.
    • Knowledge of unit procedures, patient safety protocols, and effective team communication.
    • Critical thinking, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills to provide high-quality patient care.
